The bill would amend the Local Government Code to increase the number of members of the commission of the sheriff's department civil service system in counties with a population of 3.3 million or greater. The bill would also establish a position of vice chairman in these counties.The bill would take effect September 1, 2017. Local Government Impact According to the Harris County Sheriff's Office the bill would be revenue neutral since the additional members of the commission are volunteers.
