                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 85TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            March 14, 2017      TO: Honorable Garnet Coleman, Chair, House Committee on County Affairs      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB1094 by Alvarado (Relating to the sheriff's department civil service system in certain counties.), As Introduced    No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend the Local Government Code to increase the number of members of the commission of the sheriff's department civil service system in counties with a population of 3.3 million or greater.  The bill would also establish a position of vice chairman in these counties.The bill would take effect September 1, 2017. Local Government Impact According to the Harris County Sheriff's Office the bill would be revenue neutral since the additional members of the commission are volunteers. The bill would amend the Local Government Code to increase the number of members of the commission of the sheriff's department civil service system in counties with a population of 3.3 million or greater.
