The bill would amend the Local Government Code relating to the governance of certain housing authorities. The bill would only apply to a municipality that has a population of over 600,000 and is located adjacent to the international border. The bill would require at least one of the appointed commissioners be a tenant of the public housing project or a recipient of housing assistance administered by the authority. The bill would take effect September 1, 2017. Local Government Impact No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
