A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to qualifications to serve as a member of the governing
body of an open-enrollment charter school or the governing body of a
charter holder.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Section 12.1202, Education Code, is amended to
read as follows:
Sec. 12.1202. REQUIREMENT FOR MEMBER [MAJORITY OF MEMBERS]
OF GOVERNING BODY. (a) A person must be a qualified voter to serve
as a member [majority] of [the members of] the governing body of an
open-enrollment charter school or a member of the governing body of
a charter holder [must be qualified voters].
(b) In this section, "qualified voter" has the meaning
assigned by Section 11.002, Election Code.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
