                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 85TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            March 16, 2017      TO: Honorable Jodie Laubenberg, Chair, House Committee on Elections      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB1242 by Schofield (Relating to petition requirements for an application for a place on the general primary election ballot for certain judicial offices.), As Introduced    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend the Election Code relating to petition requirements for an application for a place on the general primary election ballot for certain judicial offices.The Secretary of State assumes any additional work associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within current resources.The bill would take effect immediately if it receives a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house or on September 1, 2017.
