                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 85TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            April 6, 2017      TO: Honorable Joe Moody, Chair, House Committee on Criminal Jurisprudence      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB1287 by Rose (Relating to the electronic monitoring of certain defendants as an alternative to confinement.), As Introduced    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend the Code of Criminal Procedure to remove the provision that prohibits defendants who have been placed on community supervision from serving all or part of a sentence of confinement in an electronic monitoring program.  Based on the analysis of the Office of Court Administration, duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished using existing resources. Local Government Impact According to the Texas Association of Counties, the fiscal impact to counties cannot be determined at this time.
