The bill would amend Family Code section 32.003(a) to allow a child who is unmarried and the mother of a child to consent to examination or medical treatment related to contraception, other than abortion. The bill would add subsection 32.003(g) to define the term "contraception". The bill would take effect September 1, 2017.Based on LBB's analysis of the Health and Human Services Commission, duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources. Local Government Impact No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
