                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 85TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            May 19, 2017      TO: Honorable Joan Huffman, Chair, Senate Committee on State Affairs      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB1414 by Cortez (Relating to voting procedures for certain federal postcard applicants and military personnel serving overseas.), As Engrossed    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend the Election Code relating to voting procedures for certain federal postcard applicants and military personnel serving overseas.The Secretary of State assumes any additional work associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be absorbed using existing resources. The bill would take effect immediately if it receives a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house or on September 1, 2017.  Local Government Impact It is assumed that a county would desire to participate in the program only if funds are available.
