The bill would amend the Family Code as it relates to a court's authority to render a temporary order regarding the residence or location of a child. Under current law, a court may not render a temporary order that has the effect of changing the designation of the person who has the exclusive right to decide the primary residence of the child. The bill would expand on that limitation to disallow a temporary order that creates such a designation where none existed previously. The Office of Court Administration has indicated that it could implement the provisions of the bill with existing resources. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
