The bill would amend the Transportation Code adding a municipality with a population of more than 3,000 and less than 10,000 that contains a highway that is part of the national interstate system, and is located in a county with a population between 150,000 and 155,000. A municipality that meets the requirements may apply for certification to enforce commercial motor vehicle safety. The bill would take effect September 1, 2017. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
