                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 85TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            April 7, 2017      TO: Honorable Gary Elkins, Chair, House Committee on Government Transparency & Operation      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB1596 by Lozano (Relating to itemizing certain public notice expenditures in political subdivision budgets.), As Introduced    No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend the Local Government Code requiring the proposed budget of a political subdivision to include a line item indicating expenditures for notices required by law to be published in a newspaper. The bill would take effect immediately if it receives two-thirds vote in each house; otherwise, it would take effect September 1, 2017.
