                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 85TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            May 17, 2017      TO: Honorable Charles Schwertner, Chair, Senate Committee on Health & Human Services      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB1608 by Minjarez (Relating to creating a pilot program to provide summer internships for foster youth.), Committee Report 2nd House, Substituted    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend the Family Code relating to creating a pilot program to provide summer internships for foster youth. Based on information provided by the Department of Family and Protective Services and the Health and Human Services Commission, it is assumes that duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources.The bill would take effect immediately if it receives a vote of two-thirds of each house, otherwise this bill would take effect September 1, 2017. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
