                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 85TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            May 18, 2017      TO: Honorable Robert Nichols, Chair, Senate Committee on Transportation      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB1611 by VanDeaver (Relating to the use of warning devices by stationary authorized emergency vehicles.), As Engrossed    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend the Transportation Code to direct the Department of Public Safety to develop best practices for the use of road flares, fusees, emergency reflectors, or other safety equipment by a stationary authorized emergency vehicle responding to an incident on a highway, and provide training materials regarding these best practices to operators of authorized emergency vehicles. It is assumed any costs associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within existing resources.The bill would take effect September 1, 2017.
