The bill would amend the Transportation Code to direct the Department of Public Safety to develop best practices for the use of road flares, fusees, emergency reflectors, or other safety equipment by a stationary authorized emergency vehicle responding to an incident on a highway, and provide training materials regarding these best practices to operators of authorized emergency vehicles. It is assumed any costs associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within existing resources.The bill would take effect September 1, 2017. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
