                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 85TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            April 22, 2017      TO: Honorable Richard Peña Raymond, Chair, House Committee on Human Services      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB1640 by Vo (Relating to the creation of a program to assist foster care youth and former foster care youth in accessing higher education, career information, and skills certifications.), As Introduced    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend the Family Code relating to the creation of a program to assist foster care youth and former foster care youth in accessing higher education, career information, and skills certification. Based on information provided by the Department of Family and Protective Services and the Texas Workforce Commission, it is assumed that the duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources.The bill would take effect September 1, 2017. Local Government Impact According to the Texas Association of Counties, the bill would have no significant fiscal impact on counties.
