The bill would amend the Transportation Code to require the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to design, construct, and erect markers designating the rest areas located on Interstate Highway 27 in Hale County as the Nelda Laney Safety Stops provided that a grant or donation of private funds is made to TxDOT to cover the costs.TxDOT indicates that any duties associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within the agency's current resources. Local Government Impact No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
