                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 85TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            April 8, 2017      TO: Honorable Jodie Laubenberg, Chair, House Committee on Elections      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB1735 by Faircloth (Relating to the powers and duties of certain election officers.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted    No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend the Election Code allowing a county clerk after issuing an oral warning to remove, replace, or reassign an election judge who causes a disruption in a polling location or willfully disobeys the provisions of the Election Code. The bill would establish oaths and identification for Early Voting Ballot Board Members and Central Counting Station Officers. The bill would establish a process for injunctive or other relief if a county election officer determines a ballot was incorrectly rejected. The bill would take effect September 1, 2017.
