                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 85TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            April 10, 2017      TO: Honorable Phil King, Chair, House Committee on Homeland Security & Public Safety      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB1777 by Dale (Relating to eligibility for a security officer commission.), As Introduced    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend Chapter 53 of the Occupations Code to clarify that the consequences of a conviction for individuals in certain licensed occupations do not apply to a determination of whether the applicant is disqualified from owning or possessing a firearm as provided by Occupations Code, Section 53, and removes the possibility that the existing Section 1702.163(g) could be applied to Commissioned Security Officer applicants who are disqualified under other sections of Section 1702.163. It is assumed any costs associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within current resources. The bill would take effect September 1, 2017.
