The bill would amend the Occupations Code to clarify that the consequences of a conviction for individuals in certain licensed occupations do not apply to a determination of whether the applicant is disqualified from owning or possessing a firearm. The bill would also amend the expiration period of a security officer commission for certain nonpermanent legal residents of the United States. It is assumed any costs associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within current resources. The bill would take effect September 1, 2017. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
