The bill would amend the Local Government Code to allow a board of park commissioners in a county with a population of 580,000 or more adjacent to a county with a population of 2.8 million or more to create reasonable rules concerning the use of parks administered by the board. An offense against these rules is a Class C misdemeanor. Fines collected are deposited into the county's general fund.According to the Parks and Wildlife Department, this bill is not anticipated to have a fiscal impact on the state.The bill would take effect September 1, 2017. Local Government Impact According to the Parks and Wildlife Department, this bill is not anticipated to have a fiscal impact to units of local government.A Class C misdemeanor is punishable by a fine of not more than $500. Costs associated with enforcement and prosecution could likely me absorbed within existing resources. Revenue gain from fines imposed and collected is not anticipated to have a significant fiscal impact. In addition to the fine, punishment can include up to 180 days of deferred disposition.
