The bill would require a public school or open-enrollment charter school that did not have a full-time nurse assigned to it for more than 30 consecutive instructional days to provide written notice of this fact to each student's parent or guardian. A school could satisfy the notice requirement by posting the notice on the school's Internet website.The bill would apply beginning with the 2017-2018 school year. The bill would take immediate effect if it receives a two-thirds vote of each house of the Legislature. Otherwise, the bill would take effect September 1, 2017. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
