                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 85TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            April 6, 2017      TO: Honorable Gary Elkins, Chair, House Committee on Government Transparency & Operation      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB1861 by Elkins (Relating to the confidentiality of certain information related to a computer security incident.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend the Government Code to add information directly arising from a governmental body's routine efforts to prevent, detect, or investigate a computer security incident, including information contained in or derived from an information security log, to the list of information that is currently confidential and, therefore, excepted from public information requirements. According to the State Auditor's Office, no significant fiscal impact is anticipated and it is assumed that the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within existing resources. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
