                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 85TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            May 5, 2017      TO: Honorable Kelly Hancock, Chair, Senate Committee on Business & Commerce      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB1861 by Elkins (Relating to the confidentiality of certain information related to a computer security incident.), As Engrossed    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend the Government Code to add information directly arising from a governmental body's routine efforts to prevent, detect, investigate or mitigate a computer security incident, including information contained in or derived from an information security log, to the list of information that is currently confidential and, therefore, excepted from certain public information requirements. According to the State Auditor's Office, no significant fiscal impact is anticipated and it is assumed that the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within existing resources. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
