                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 85TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            April 26, 2017      TO: Honorable Joe Moody, Chair, House Committee on Criminal Jurisprudence      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB1884 by Anderson, Charles "Doc" (relating to the penalties for certain littering offenses.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend the Code of Criminal Procedure and the Health and Safety Code to require a court to order a defendant convicted of littering to perform no more than 60 hours of community service in the county in which the defendant resides.  The community service requirement would be in addition to any other applicable fines or penalties related to the conviction.  Based on the analysis of the Office of Court Administration, duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished using existing resources.  Local Government Impact According to the Office of Court Administration, the bill would have no significant fiscal impact on local courts.
