The bill would amend the Government Code to allow the Texas Indigent Defense Commission to award grants to any Texas non-profit that operates an innocence project or any Texas law school for the purpose of investigating claims of post-conviction innocence. Duties and responsibilities associated with the bill could be implemented with existing resources.
