                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 85TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            March 24, 2017      TO: Honorable Joe Moody, Chair, House Committee on Criminal Jurisprudence      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB1967 by Moody (Relating to the creation of an innocence project grant program.), As Introduced    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend the Government Code to allow the Texas Indigent Defense Commission to award grants to any Texas non-profit that operates an innocence project or any Texas law school for the purpose of investigating claims of post-conviction innocence.  Duties and responsibilities associated with the bill could be implemented with existing resources. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
