                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 85TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            April 30, 2017      TO: Honorable Dan Huberty, Chair, House Committee on Public Education      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB2010 by Bonnen, Greg (Relating to providing workplace safety training information for use in the public school curriculum.), As Introduced    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend the Education Code to collect and make available information regarding workplace safety training that may be included as part of a district's curriculum.  The bill would also permit school districts to develop workplace safety training programs to provide to educators, and to encourage the use of the training programs in curricula of appropriate courses.  Based on information provided by the Texas Education Agency, it is anticipated that the costs of the bill associated with compiling workplace safety training material and making it available to districts would be minimal and could be absorbed within existing resources.The bill would take effect immediately if it received a vote of two-thirds of all elected members of each chamber of the Legislature, or otherwise on September 1, 2017. Local Government Impact The bill would result in some costs to local school districts for professional development and training kits if a district opted to include the workplace safety training program in certain courses.  However, it is anticipated that any costs associated with the bill would be small and could be absorbed within existing resources.
