The bill would amend Chapter 112 of the Transportation Code to require a private entity, prior to operation of high-speed rail service, to file a bond with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) in an amount to be determined by the Commission to be sufficient to restore real property used for the service to its original condition if the service ceases operation.Based on the information provided by TxDOT, it is assumed any costs or duties associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could absorbed within the agency's existing resources. Local Government Impact No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
