LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE, 85TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION April 29, 2017 TO: Honorable Gary Elkins, Chair, House Committee on Government Transparency & Operation FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board IN RE:HB2175 by Muñoz, Jr. (Relating to the persons authorized to submit a request for an attorney general opinion.), As Introduced No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. The bill would amend the Government Code to specify that a chair or vice chair of a committee may request an Attorney General opinion. The Office of the Attorney General estimates that there will be a workload increase due to the expansion of the authority to request an Attorney General opinion to a vice chair of a committee. This analysis assumes that any additional work resulting from the passage of the bill could be reasonably absorbed within current agency resources. The bill would take effect September 1, 2017. Local Government Impact No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
