                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 85TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            March 27, 2017      TO: Honorable Dan Huberty, Chair, House Committee on Public Education      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB2340 by Huberty (Relating to the use by a school district of certain undesignated funds in the district's general fund.), As Introduced    No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would require a school district to maintain a minimum balance of undesignated funds in the general fund of the district in an amount that is not less than the general operating expenses of the school district for a period of 90 days. The bill would require the general operating expenses for a period of 90 days to be determined using the operating expenses incurred by the district for the preceding 90 days. Local Government Impact School districts may incur some administrative costs to determine the continuing 90 day expense levels; however, these costs are not expected to be significant.
