The bill would amend the Civil Practice and Remedies Code to modify a categorical listing of 22 common nuisances and add new categories. The bill would also authorize a court that determines that a person maintaining a vacant lot or vacant or abandoned building may order the appointment of a receiver to manage the property to abate the nuisance. Based on the analysis of the Office of Court Administration, duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources.The bill would take effect September 1, 2017. Local Government Impact According to the Office of Court Administration, no significant fiscal impact on local courts is anticipated.
