LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE, 85TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION April 1, 2017 TO: Honorable Drew Darby, Chair, House Committee on Energy Resources FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board IN RE:HB237 by Anchia (Relating to the name and governance of the Railroad Commission of Texas.), As Introduced No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. The bill would amend the Natural Resources Code and the Election Code to change the name of the Railroad Commission to the Texas Energy Resources Commission. The bill would establish in statute the election and terms of the commissioners. The terms are currently laid out in the Texas Constitution. In this analysis it is assumed that changing the agency's name would have no significant fiscal implication as the Commission could phase in the change over time using existing resources. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
