The bill would amend the Natural Resources Code and the Election Code to change the name of the Railroad Commission to the Texas Energy Resources Commission. The bill would establish in statute the election and terms of the commissioners. The terms are currently laid out in the Texas Constitution. In this analysis it is assumed that changing the agency's name would have no significant fiscal implication as the Commission could phase in the change over time using existing resources.
