The bill would amend the Health and Safety Code to require certain individuals employed by a health care facility to practice surgical technology to complete fifteen hours of continuing education each year, and to prohibit a health care facility from continuing to employ an individual that does not complete the continuing education requirement. The bill would take effect September 1, 2017. Based on the LBB's analysis of the Health and Human Services Commission, duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
