                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 85TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            April 17, 2017      TO: Honorable Dan Huberty, Chair, House Committee on Public Education      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB2442 by King, Ken (Relating to the minutes of operation required for public school districts, charter schools, and other education programs and to calculating the average daily attendance for certain education programs.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would modify Chapter 29 of the Education Code related to the number of minutes required in a school year and the Commissioner of Education's authority to determine the number of minutes required for a full-day and half-day of operation and an alternative minimum of minutes of operation under certain circumstances.The Texas Education Agency indicates that any additional cost associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within existing resources.The bill would apply beginning with the 2018-19 school year.
