The bill would amend the Code of Criminal Procedure to require the Attorney General to conduct an investigation relating to a law enforcement agency's failure to comply with reporting requirements for certain injuries or deaths caused by peace officers. The bill would restrict Governor's Office Criminal Justice Division grant eligibility if failure to comply is found to be intentional.According to the Office of the Attorney General, any additional work resulting from the passage of this bill could be absorbed within current agency resources.The bill would take effect September 1, 2017. Local Government Impact The bill would have an impact on local governments by restricting eligibility to receive grant funding from the Governor's Criminal Justice Division if it is determined that a law enforcement agency intentionally failed to comply with reporting requirements.
