A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to grants from the Department of Family and Protective
Services to faith-based and charitable organizations that provide
services to children and families.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Section 264.004, Family Code, is amended by
adding Subsection (d) to read as follows:
(d) The department may use state and federal funds to
provide grants to charitable and faith-based organizations to
provide the benefits or services to children and families described
by Subsection (c). The executive commissioner shall adopt rules to
implement this subsection, including rules governing the
procedures for applying for and awarding grants.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
