                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 85TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            April 30, 2017      TO: Honorable Four Price, Chair, House Committee on Public Health      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB2490 by Minjarez (Relating to the adoption of cats and dogs previously used for research.), As Introduced    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would require a research facility to offer certain retired animals for adoption to an animal shelter, animal rescue organization, or an individual. The bill would require the executive commissioner of the Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) to adopt rules to implement the provisions of the bill.According to the Department of State Health Services, The University of Texas System Administration, Texas A&M University System Administrative and General Offices, and HHSC, any costs associated with implementing the provisions of the bill can be absorbed within existing resources. Local Government Impact No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
