A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to state agency contracts with the United States Postal
Service.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Chapter 2163, Government Code, is amended by
adding Section 2163.0035 to read as follows:
Sec. 2163.0035. CONTRACTING WITH UNITED STATES POSTAL
SERVICE. (a) A state agency may contract with the United States
Postal Service to provide to the public at one or more facilities
operated by the United States Postal Service in this state a service
the agency is required or authorized by law to regularly provide.
(b) A state agency that enters into a contract under
Subsection (a) is responsible for providing the service required by
the contract and shall set measurable performance standards for the
United States Postal Service in the contract.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
