A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to the regulation and reuse of wastewater.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Section 341.039, Health and Safety Code, is
amended by adding Subsections (a-2) and (a-3) to read as follows:
(a-2) This subsection applies only to a county with a
population of more than 3.3 million:
(1) The county may implement a pilot program to reuse
any form of wastewater, treated on-site, at a county owned facility
only, for:
(A) subsurface irrigation; and
(B) toilet and urinal flushing.
(a-3) If deemed necessary, the commission by rule shall
adopt minimum standards to implement subsection (a-2).
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
