                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 85TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            March 11, 2017      TO: Honorable René Oliveira, Chair, House Committee on Business & Industry      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB293 by Muñoz, Jr. (Relating to the distribution, sale, or offer for sale of a mislabeled abusable synthetic substance through the Internet.), As Introduced    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend Chapter 484 of the Health and Safety Code, which prohibits a person in the course of business from knowingly producing, distributing, selling, or offering to sell a mislabeled abusable synthetic substance.  The bill would amend the definition to include use of the Internet to perform any of those activities. Based on information provided by the Office of Court Administration, it is assumed that the provisions of the bill could be implemented utilizing existing resources. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
