The bill would add new Texas Government Code, Section 662.065, designating January 9th as Law Enforcement Appreciation Day. The bill would permit Law Enforcement Appreciation Day to be regularly observed in public schools and other places. Additionally, the bill would require the Texas Education Agency (TEA) to develop recommendations for the observation of Law Enforcement Appreciation Day through appropriate activities in public schools.TEA would be required to develop recommendations for the observation of Law Enforcement Appreciation Day in public schools. There would be minor costs to the agency to develop and make available these recommendations, but there would be no significant fiscal impact. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
