                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 85TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            April 3, 2017      TO: Honorable Phil King, Chair, House Committee on Homeland Security & Public Safety      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB3057 by Anchia (Relating to the offense of possessing a weapon in a secured area of an airport.), As Introduced    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend the Penal Code to broaden the definition for a secured area of an airport where a person commits an offense for possession of a firearm, illegal knife, club, or other prohibited weapon. The Texas Department of Public Safety indicates that any costs associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within the agency's existing resources.The provisions of the bill addressing felony sanctions for criminal offenses would not result in a significant impact on the demand for state correctional resources.The bill would take effect September 1, 2017.
