                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 85TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            April 17, 2017      TO: Honorable Four Price, Chair, House Committee on Public Health      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB3083 by Price (Relating to eligibility requirements for the repayment of certain mental health professional education loans.), As Introduced    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend Education Code relating to the eligibility requirements for the repayment of certain mental health professional education loans. The bill would allow certain chemical dependency counselors to be eligible to participate in the program. The bill modifies the amount of repayment assistance for mental health professionals. This analysis assumes that the impact of these changes would not be significant. Based on information provided by the Higher Education Coordinating Board and the Health and Human Services Commission, any duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources.  Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
