The bill would amend the Education Code relating to the collection, analysis, and dissemination of information regarding the availability and quality of the groundwater resources in this state by the Geo-Technology Research Institute. The bill would require the institute to use data from state agencies and institutions of higher education to develop a three-dimensional model of the availability and quality of the groundwater resources.Both the Railroad Commission and the Water Development Board indicated the bill would have either no fiscal or no significant fiscal impact to their agency. The University of Texas System, Texas A&M University System, and the University of Houston System indicated the provisions of the bill could be accomplished within existing resources. Local Government Impact No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
