The bill would amend the Local Government Code and Transportation Code prohibiting a political subdivision or person from selling or transferring a marked patrol car or other law enforcement motor vehicle unless any insignia and equipment that could mislead a person to identify the vehicle as a law enforcement vehicle is removed. The Attorney General could recover a civil penalty of $1,000 if the vehicle was used during the commission of a crime. The Attorney General estimates no significant fiscal impact to the state. The bill would take effect September 1, 2017. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
