                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 85TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            April 24, 2017      TO: Honorable Phil King, Chair, House Committee on Homeland Security & Public Safety      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB3340 by Thompson, Senfronia (Relating to the provision of information regarding firearm safety and suicide prevention.), As Introduced    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend the Government Code to require the classroom instruction part of the handgun proficiency course to include firearm safety and suicide prevention information. The bill would also require the Department of Public Safety and the Health and Human Services Commission to provide information relating to suicide prevention and firearm safety to certain individuals. The Department of Public Safety and the Health and Human Services Commission report that the costs and duties to implement the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within existing resources.The bill would take effect September 1, 2017. Local Government Impact No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
