A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to providing information on the National Marrow Donor
Program in driver's license offices and on driver's license and
personal identification certificate applications.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 521, Transportation Code,
is amended by adding Section 521.012 to read as follows:
Sec. 521.012. INFORMATION ON NATIONAL MARROW DONOR PROGRAM.
(a) The department shall make available, in a publicly accessible
area of a driver's license office, informational materials that
provide information on the National Marrow Donor Program, including
basic bone marrow donation information in English and Spanish and a
contact phone number and e-mail address.
(b) The department shall include space on each application
for a new or renewal driver's license or personal identification
certificate that informs the applicant of the existence of the
National Marrow Donor Program, the contact information for the
program, and a description of the program's purpose.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
