The bill would amend the Transportation Code to require the Department of Public Safety to establish a pilot program for the issuance of a mobile application that displays, authenticates, and verifies digital identification on a mobile communication device. It is assumed any costs associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within current resources.The bill would take effect September 1, 2017.
