                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 85TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            March 29, 2017      TO: Honorable Gary Elkins, Chair, House Committee on Government Transparency & Operation      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB347 by Canales (Relating to the establishment of a pilot program for the issuance of digital identification.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend the Transportation Code to require the Department of Public Safety to establish a pilot program for the issuance of a mobile application that displays, authenticates, and verifies digital identification on a mobile communication device.  It is assumed any costs associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within current resources.The bill would take effect September 1, 2017. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
