 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 AN ACT
 relating to the ownership of certain deer in this state.
 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 SECTION 1.  Subchapter L, Chapter 43, Parks and Wildlife
 Code, is amended by adding Section 43.3511 to read as follows:
 Sec. 43.3511.  OWNERSHIP OF BREEDER DEER. (a)  Except as
 provided by Subsection (c), a breeder deer is the personal property
 of a deer breeder if the breeder deer:
 (1)  is held in accordance with a permit issued under
 Section 43.352; and
 (2)  has been permanently and legibly tattooed in one
 ear with the unique identification number that is assigned to the
 deer breeder.
 (b)  To the extent of a conflict, this section prevails over
 Section 1.011 or 1.013.
 (c)  Subsection (a) does not apply if the deer is released
 into the wild from the deer breeder's facility.
 SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
