                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 85TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            April 21, 2017      TO: Honorable Gary Elkins, Chair, House Committee on Government Transparency & Operation      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB526 by Schofield (Relating to certain persons' entitlement to public information.), As Introduced    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  Under the bill, a governmental entity would no longer be required to accept or comply with a request for public information from a person whose primary residence was not in Texas. The governmental entity could determine a requestor's residency by asking the requestor for information about his or her primary residence. If the requestor failed to provide information about his or her primary residence within 10 business days, the governmental entity could treat the request as if the requestor's primary residence was not in Texas. Local Government Impact No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
