The bill would amend the Civil Practice and Remedies Code by prohibiting certain settlement terms in a claim or action against a governmental unit. Based on the analysis of the Office of the Attorney General, the Comptroller of Public Accounts, and the Office of Court Administration, duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources. The bill would go in to effect on September 1, 2017. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
